I wondered if it was just this location, but a quick Google search suggests this is just the way Hertz does business. I recommend avoiding Hertz all costs.

I am Hertz Gold so that may influence the attention and timeliness of my rental experience. This was my 4th visit to this office, and it was a repeat, outstanding interchange. The agents are all courteous and professional. At times when I encounter a new person, they will ask another for help or approval. If online reservations are made, the coupons and contract are firm. Just be wise, fair, and friendly and you'll get the same in return. I look forward to the next time that I plan to rent right here in Walnut Creek. Good Job! Thanks.

Fairly clean and organize. but like other car rental i've gone to, never have the car your looking for.

WARNING! WARNING! DO NOT GO HERE! It's hard to convey what a horrible experience I have had here. I reserved a car twice in the same week, and they wouldn't honor my reservation either time. The first time I showed up to pick up my reserved car, i was told they were out of cars and was offered no alternatives. She told me i should have called before I came. Three days later I reserved another car and called to verify that the car I reserved was actually being reserved... I was assured it would be ready for me. The morning of my reservation, I dropped my personal vehicle off at a mechanic to get work done, and proceeded to head to the hertz to pick up my vehicle that I reserved. I arrived at hertz to see plenty of cars in their lot, but was once again i was informed that no cars were available. This time the news was met with horrible customer service. He told he didnt have time to deal with me and flicked his wrist at me to wave me out the door. furthermore, there is no way to complain to the hertz corporation unless a vehicle was actually rented to you. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!! If you can get in touch with me, I will rent you my personal vehicle just to save you the headache.

It is ridiculously difficult to reach them by telephone and when you do, you may not be able to understand the representative due to poor language and speaking skills. They do not return calls. I was hung up on twice today trying to get information. Had this not been an insurance matter, I never would have chosen to do business with Hertz. I read their Yelp reviews and my experience was just as bad as everyone else.

Extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Charge for fuel even when you return the vehicle with a full tank. The staff of this location appear to all by young and lacking in business savvy, customer service and communication skills.
