The most expensive place in the area. For example I called to get a price for rattlesnake antivenom and Encina said that the dog may need one or more viles at $1500 per vile!! plus all the other miscellaneous charges. I called another emergency vet in concord and they only charge $500 per vile.

The genuine love, compassion and care they provide is outstanding. From when we first brought our precious kittie in for a sickness in February and the multiple visits in between, to when we picked up her cremains in November, they were consitantly kind, loving and accomodating. Dr. Nurre and Melanie's kindness and care helped us through this tough time. I highly recommend this place to everyone and their furry friends. Thank you and all your staff.

I highly recommend Encina to anybody with a fur baby

Made an appointment only to have them call 4 days later and say that I have a primary vet and they want to treat me as a "specialty client" aka they want more money for same job, even though they have seen this dog before. Will not go back again!

So you would rather tarnish the customers that are willing to pay....? You don't accept new patients? What if someone wanted to switch to you? Terrible excuse to wait 4 days and mess up my plans because your staff didn't mention that when making the appointment.

Hi Stephen, for professional reasons we cannot see you for general practice care; the reason being is that this will tarnish our relationships with neighboring colleagues/fellow veterinarians. We are happy to see you when they are closed, emergency reasons, or specialty reasons, but we cannot see your pet for routine care without upsetting your primary veterinarian. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you understand where we are coming from.

My husband and I love Cairn Terriers! Our first experience at Encina was when our beloved Monty developed lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy with Dr. Stephen Atwater. Monty had a happy, normal life for 25 more months and everyone there loved him. Dr. Atwater is the BEST. When our CHERISHED vet from another veterinary hospital, Dr. Wendi Aengus, joined Encina we followed her with Maggie and our new puppy Angus. We lost our beloved Maggie from kidney failure 11 days before Christmas last year. Dr. Gerardo Del Campo's care for Maggie in her final hours was AMAZING. Not only does Encina provide superior service for their clients, their doctors and staff treat our dogs like royalty. It's always heartwarming to see how much Angus and Fergus enjoy being there!!
